Road Safety Campaign 2016

The ADTAV Council recently determined to launch a road safety campaign on Sunday 1st May 2016, leading into Road Safety Week. The key Campaign message is that developing safe drivers is "A Shared Responsibility".

The Campaign is designed to reinforce and improve the skills and knowledge of supervising drivers while developing the skills and knowledge of learner drivers.

The key objective of the Campaign is to encourage supervising drivers to accompany learner drivers on their lessons, to be exposed to the learner drivers’ development. This will ensure ongoing consistency of instruction and maintenance of key messages delivered to the learner driver by the professional driver trainer and reinforced by the supervising driver.

The launch event of this campaign was held on Sunday 1 May 2016 with the Honourable Luke Donnellan, Minister for Road Safety, attending the day to undertake a Readiness Challenge and to launch the campaign. The day was a great success.

We subsequently held another Road Safety Campaign event in Morwell, with the Mayor of Latrobe Council, Cr Michael Rossiter and local MP Russell Northe attending.

Are you a supervising driver? We encourage you to attend some driving lessons with your learner driver, even undertake a Readiness Challenge with one of our members and be the best supervising driver you can be. Your child is worth it.
